10 Questions With The Founder of Clo Clo Organics

We had the amazing opportunity to interview Chloë, the founder of organic and natural skincare brand Clo Clo Organics, and get her two cents on how she went green, her must-have beauty products and more! Read on to hear more about her story…

Fun fact about yourself?

I’m petrified of butterflies! I think the official name is Lepidopterophobia , i looked it up once because i was concerned i was the only person that could be afraid of them and felt not quite so bad that there were others like me!

When did you decide to go natural?

When I had my children nearly 8 years ago, I became more aware of ingredients in everything – not just food, but everyday household products too. I’d been enjoying the benefits of clean eating and healthy living during pregnancy, so I had already started making the switch, but when the twins arrived I felt an immense sense of responsibility. I didn’t want to cause them any unnecessary harm by exposing them to nasties. I guess the surge of maternal instinct to want to protect led to my passion for clean living.

Best beauty secret?

I drink at least a glass of milk a day, and have done so since I was a child, although in recent years I have swapped cow’s milk for oat milk instead. Milk is amazing for skin complexion as it contains the vitamins needed to nourish and improve skin health. Of course, it also strengthens teeth and bones thanks to the calcium and Vitamin D. I usually have a glass in the evening to benefit from its stress relieving properties, and to help me unwind from the day.

What inspired you to start your own brand?

My clients! I was always getting asked for my recommendations and I was getting fed up of prescribing pharmaceutical skincare which was so harsh.

People come to see me to feel good about themselves and to feel refreshed so I wanted to create a range that would be suitable for everyone . The aim was to be simple to use, and yet great enough to enhance their wellbeing and skincare results.

Where do you go for inspiration?

Nature! Our culture is becoming more disconnected from nature and I feel like we’re starting to forget how wonderful it is for you.

When I’m outdoors, be it in the UK or abroad, I’m always looking for the next ingredient or idea that could be harnessed to incorporate in to my products. Tapping in to the healing properties of plants and herbs enormously benefit mind, skin and body…I just find it truly fascinating.

Favourite Clo Clo product?

Cleansing Edition.

Why?

My night-time routine has become somewhat ritualistic and my favourite part is the cleansing. I’d put it on the same level as smudging, the ancient ritual of removing negative energy from a physical space by burning herbs.

The balm is so soothing and removes all the impurities that have built up throughout the day, giving me a sense of being clean inside out. The lavender tones destress me whilst the patchouli induces a sense of bliss. After this, I’m ready for a good night’s sleep.

If Clo Clo were a girl, what kind of girl would she be?

Authentic, confident, purposeful, glowing, sensual and independent.

Finally: any tips for budding female entrepreneurs?

To have belief and confidence in your own self and the ability to define your own brand and identity. You can’t please everyone and be everyone’s type so be yourself with your own special qualities. Be true to your own products and services and people will respect you for standing your ground.
