The Galinée proposition is an interesting one: they’re all about the Microbiome and Microorganisms. Sounds confusing right, but it’s actually a super simple concept and one that the skincare industry is talking about more and more, as it makes a lot of sense for skin health. Here’s what the guys at Galinée have to say on the matter:
“A brief science lesson: The microbiome is the name for all good bacteria and microorganisms that live in harmony on and in your body. They are an extension of our selves; they play a protective role and are an integral part of the barrier function of our skin.
Too often, these good bacteria are damaged by modern lifestyles, pollution and overuse of antibacterial products and detergents. This can lead to dry, irritated and stressed sensitive skin.”
So their answer to this is a patented combination of prebiotics and probiotics that are designed to look after your microbiome. Cool hey? We had the pleasure of seeing their founder Marie speak at an event yesterday and she’s great; a French doctor with 15 years worth of experience within skincare. Her explanation of the Galinée range is so simple – translating the benefits of pre/probiotics within gut health to skin health.
They currently have 7 products in the range so it’s definitely a capsule collection. I’ve been using the Foaming Cleanser for some time now and it’s lovely. The consistency is really nice, it feels light and leaves skin feeling fresh and super clean, without that stripping effect that some foam cleaners can have. It manages to remove most makeup too which is a win for me because I wear a lot of makeup but am often too lazy to use both a makeup remover and cleanser. I’m always impressed when a cleanser can do it all. I haven’t seen a dramatic change in my skin but overall it feels healthy and clear, which I think is the point of the range!
More recently I’ve been using the Body Milk which comes on a strong recommendation from a couple of the CBCo team members. Galinée say that it’s filled with bogbean and sweet almond oil as well as the pre/probiotics and promise it will increase skin hydration by 103% in under and hour. Sounds good to me. The team here say that its best feature is its absorbability – instant and no residue – and I agree. It’s super light and kind of glides on skin but the feeling you get in terms of skin hydration is more inline with a body butter.
Marie says that her favourite product in the range is their Cleansing Bar – which is designed for the body. It’s like a super gentle, creamy bar of soap that doesn’t leave your skin feeling stripped or squeaky clean, just fresh and healthy!
My only point of feedback is that occasionally the scent of the range can be a little strong. The products I tried all have the same smell and it’s pleasant (almost like sherbert), just a little overpowering at times, particularly with the body milk as it’s a leave-on product.
