The top 3 Beauty Trends from NYFW

by

As expected, New York Fashion Week has brought out the wild and wonderful side of beauty with the main focus this year being on the power of the eyes; from rounded cat eyes to bold colourful flicks. The likes of Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner were sporting this playful look at the Jason Wu show with teddybear ear-esque eyeliner dramatically lifting their makeup as a contrast to the minimal looking base and lip.

1. Rounded “Teddy Bear” Eye

If the classic feline flick is wearing out on you or if you just can’t quite master the flick then this is the perfect excuse for you to change it up and be different. For once you don’t have to be precise and spend ages perfecting a straight and meticulously angled wing. Instead you can use an easily blendable eyeliner, we’d recommend Vapour’s Mesmerize Eyeliner as it comes with a smudger so you can easily create that rounded look. Or if you’re not feeling the bold round look just yet, maybe try softening the edges of your wing with the smudger to give a smokey effect.

2. Bareface Makeup

Less is more right?! “No makeup” makeup seems to be a recurring trend in the media with some people including the likes of Jessica Alba wanting to stick to the au naturale look rather than caked on, highlighter poppin’ makeup. Pamella Roland showcased this look with a soft and natural contour, a light flush of colour on the cheeks and a glossy sheen on the lips. To recreate this look we’d use Juice Beauty’s Stem Cellular CC Cream as a light base to even out skin tone and cover any redness. Then to add that natural glow we’d use BYBI Beauty’s Babe Balm to give that light sheen just above the cheekbones, on the tips of the nose and in between the brows. For a pop of colour we’d use RMS Beauty’s Lip2Cheek in “Modest” on the apples of our cheeks and on the lips to round off the whole look.

3. Tribal Undereye Flicks

Ulla Johnson made a statement with her unique flicks of white eyeliner placed just under the eye. Surprisingly, something so simple had such a bold impact due to the fact she left the rest of the eye makeup completely bare and you guessed it the base had that “no makeup” makeup vibe going on. If you’re feeling a bit out-there and want to try something different this is a super simple way to vamp up your usual makeup look. Ilia Beauty’s creamy eyeliner comes in a range of colours (including blue and purple) so you can be as wild as you wish.

Go on, give these looks a go, and see what you think. You’ll have the NYFW designers scouting after you 😉
